The pedagogy followed makes students self-reliant and analytically powerful and backed with a desire to excel this enables them to face challenges of the corporate environment.

The Department has a computer centre equipped with the latest hardware and software. The students learn in a networked environment with internet facility through a leased line. There are separate dedicated servers for Windows as well as Linux. The focus is on the integration of technology in the curriculum through exposure to specialized software such as SPSS and Prowess etc.

LIBRARY

The Central Library of the University (Tagore Library) is the main learning resource at the university campus. THE SPIRIT OF FREE ENTERPRISE

Our students are empowered to conduct various activities on their own as we firmly believe that each of our students has the potential to lead by example. At LUMBA due emphasis is given on the overall personality development of the students by engaging them extensively in activities beyond the classroom.

The students involve themselves in a range of activities for their overall development. The Department supports the students in organising different competitions. Some of the activities held regularly in the Department are:

In-house Activities

The activities pursued within the department are extremely popular among the students as they provide competitive opportunities for acquiring and applying knowledge and displaying their skills and talents. Prominent among these are activities organized by various clubs led by the students. The Bulls & Bears club organizes events and discussions regarding the financial aspects. The Kotler Club engages in events relating to marketing including “ad competitions” and sales “promotion campaigns”. The Research Club engages in a research seminar every Friday where both faculty and fellow researchers present their research work and other learning for benefit of other scholars.

The clubs promote activities like case studies, presentations, debates, management games, quizzes etc. The Department is a regular venue for many events such as management games corporate colloquiums, debates and business quizzes. Students are motivated to participate in social activities in University and society. The students are motivated to donate saplings every year for the lawn of the Department to enhance their environmental conservatism.

External Events

The department is involved in an array of activities and participates in the events organized by other institutions. The performances of the students have been exemplary in events organized by the IIMs IITs, others management institutes and professionals associations. The students have won a lot of trophies and prizes for the Department and have been a source of pride and glory.

Management Quizzes

Management quiz is a kind of competition where the students answer several questions, increasing memorizing skills and knowledge. Such an event provides a platform for students to enhance knowledge and have fun at the same time. Because reading books, doing assignments and giving examination is a routine activity that is done in every institute and with these routine work students may get bored and their knowledge and information is limited only with curriculum. So in order to make their curriculum interesting activity like MANAGEMENT QUIZ proves to be a very helpful for students because it helps students to check out their information or how much of information amount they have. It also helps students in increasing their knowledge because it is cover many topics such as politics, sports, geography etc.

 Collage Making

The art activities are important as they encourage students' "full and all-sided development". The Collage Making activity is organized by the Department of Business Administration as an extra-curricular activity. Here a group of students are given with a management issue/problem and are asked to present/solve the same with the help of their creativity with objects/images. This activity helps management students develop their cognitive, social and managerial abilities. The purpose of this activity is to explore the importance of art in management's learning and development and to help the growth of a sense of correlation among various social, economic and managerial issues.

 Chess Competition

In addition to above activities, Chess competition is frequently analysed by the Department as Chess is an exercise of infinite possibilities for the mind, one which develops mental abilities used throughout life: concentration, critical thinking, abstract reasoning, problem-solving, pattern recognition, strategic planning, creativity, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. Chess can be used very effectively as a tool to teach problem-solving and abstract reasoning. It helps in learning management tactics on how to solve a problem is more important than learning the solution to any particular problem. Through chess, they learn how to analyse a situation by focusing on important factors and by eliminating distractions.
