The Department of Physical Education was established in 1978 vide Government Notification no. 5178-XV-10-78, Dated 28-10-1978. It was inserted in the University’s First Statute and Act on the same date. The Department is under the Faculty of Arts. The Courses B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. were started in 2005 wide N.C.T.E order no. F.N.RC/N.C.T.E/F-3/U.P-975/1549, 16th May, 2005.
