  • Introduction

Need not to mention that University of Lucknow in terms of its excellence in academic and extra-curricular fields has acquired a prestigious place among the leading universities of the country. Despite crass commercialisation and the lowering of academic standards all around, the University of Lucknow has maintained its dignity and quality of education. It has continually reinvented itself in tune with the constantly changing demands of the industry and academia to equip students with the necessary knowledge and qualifications.

It has a vision, to cultivate the human resource for furtherance of knowledge through teaching, research and innovation and rank among the best educational institutions of the world for better service to the humanity in general and our nation in particular.

One of the important areas that need urgent attention is PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES. The need for this is being felt extremely strongly in the present times, when the COVID-19 pandemic is sweeping the world. One of the extremely important emerging areas has been YOGA AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE, two areas that offer heightened immunity and protection against infections in general. For this reason, University of Lucknow has already opened a new FACULTY OF YOGA AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE from the session 2020-21.

The demand to produce, test and apply Quality Control to drugs, palliative and vaccines has skyrocketed. Hundreds of R & D’s for drugs and vaccines are vying for attention. This has led to a sudden demand for highly trained personnel in the field of pharmacy as much as in the field of medicine. As economies worldwide begin to pick up and move to overdrive, the time is ripe to begin teaching and research in pharmacy immediately.

The University of Lucknow in its pursuit to contribute in the fight against COVID-19 and other diseases and be ready for future challenges in medicine proposes to start D. Pharm, B. Pharm and M. Pharm programmes for teaching and research in Pharmaceutical Sciences in newly proposed INSTITUTE OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES under Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University of Lucknow. The Institute will consist of the following departments:

  • Department of Pharmaceutics
  • Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
  • Department of Pharmacology
  • Department of Pharmacognosy
