Head of Department
Geography is said to be mother of all sciences. Almost all the subjects in arts and life sciences extract its essence from geography. The subject offers a wide carrier prospects. And imparts knowledge about our surrounding.
This is a relatively new Department of the University. There has been a pressing demand for opening it in the campus. A few associate colleges of Lucknow, University were imparting education of Geography up to graduation level but the subject was not available in LU Campus. Ultimately the Department of Geography was started in University of Lucknow in the academic session 2002-2003. Initially Only Post-graduate classes were started and 47 students were admitted in the first batch of M.A. Part-I in 2002-2003. This was an historic occasion as the new subject was introduced on the popular demand of students and teachers of the university. Geography subject was also introduced at the Under-graduate level in the session 2003-2004 and 50 students were enrolled in B.A.-I.
