ABOUT US

The Training and Placement Cell (TPC) is a confluence of Placement Coordinator, Student Coordinator and dedicated faculty representing all the programme of the Department of Social Work. It seeks to create a meaningful connection between students of pre-final/final year who have potential and NGO’s/Organizations/Industries etc. that are doing significant work in their respective fields. Placement Cell informs students about various opportunities and equips them with skills to seize those opportunities. The TPC seeks to build equity by paying distinctive attention to the needs of students from deprived socio-economic backgrounds. The TPC is responsible for maintaining the best profile of the Department/University which comprehensively communicates what the department has to offer to the recruiters. The TPC seeks to establish meaningful and everlasting relations with the organizations for mutual benefits.

AIM:

  • To create a virtual database of all the upcoming job/internship opportunities in order to make the students aware and ready for it;
  • Organize a seminar/webinar with an expert/alumnus on how to crack the interview of perspective companies;
  • To establish a line of communication with the recruiters to convince them to come for placement at the Department/University;
  • To organize a job fair for DSW annually;
  • Soft skill development like interview skills, communication, writing, and leadership qualities; and
  • The TPC will have 6 student coordinators.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To provide ample and equal employment opportunities for all students in the department;
  • To manage centralized placement activities for all programmes for the Department;
  • To organize on and off-campus recruitment for the students with Industries/Organizations and various NGOs doing significant work across Pan India;
  • To prepare students for campus placement by arranging training workshops in aptitude tests, group discussions, etc. preparing in Personal Interviews through professional and experienced trainers;
  • To promote and organize career counseling by renowned speakers, senior personnel, and alumnus of the department; and
  • To enter into tie-up arrangements with reputed Industries/Organizations and NGO’s for campus recruitment.

PLACEMENT COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Invite prospective companies/ organizations for recruitment.
  • Correspond with prospective companies to fix the interview date and schedule for the events.
  • Arrange interview facilities on the campus and logistics support for smooth flow of the process.
  • Receive the personnel and provide them with necessary inputs about the Department and coordinate with the student’s coordinator for smooth functioning of events at various locations.
  • Collect the appointment letters and acceptance letters from the employers and students respectively for onward submission.
  • Identify and train a standby placement coordinator to take over the responsibilities during the absence of the Placement Coordinator.
  • Notify students regarding various competitive examinations.
  • Guiding students who desire to pursue Higher Education.
  • Organize Industrial or field visits.

STUDENT COORDINATORS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To collect bio-data from students having primary eligibility at the start of 3rd Semester and to verify their credentials with their concerning mark sheets and once the result of a semester has been obtained, update the data of the eligible students from the semester.
  • To obtain information about a possible visit from the placement coordinator and depending on the eligibility criteria asked by the organization and submit the bio-data of the students to the placement cell.
  • To identify student representatives for programme who will actively participate in placement activities.
  • To inform the students about the date and time of the interview.
  • To be present at the time of the interview on a date given along with the student representatives.
  • To regulate students who have to be interviewed as per the order given by the employer.
  • To collect the list of selected students and inform the students individually.
  • To collect the data on successful placements and improve the modus operandi based on that.
  • To give prior information about the date and time of campus interview/ written test to the respective faculty who should have been taking classes for the final year students.

PLACEMENT MECHANISM

  • Students should register themselves with the placement cell.
  • It is suggested that students should develop a habit of checking notice board for notices regarding placements.
  • Before appearing for the interview, students should sign an undertaking for the same.
  • Attendance in all pre-placement talks will be MANDATORY.
  • The dress code is STRICTLY FORMAL. Those who fail to comply will not be allowed to sit for the drive.
  • Students are not authorized to communicate with the companies on an individual level or in any individual capacity. All interactions will be directed through the Cell only.

PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES

  • Maintain a database of the students and update them regularly.
  • Seek employers and bring them to the campus for hiring. Establish a network with employers and relationships with the HRs from the corporate and promote students for placement as appropriate.
  • Mentoring students for the best fit.
  • Counsel, prepare and enhance the hiring potential of students, new graduates and alumni into the job market.
  • Student orientation in concert with college support services.
  • Attend seminars/webinars and other training opportunities for professional development.
  • Proactively contact organizations and industries to develop MOUs, partnerships and placements.
  • Assist students in identifying employment options in the career of their interest.
